Full Disk Access Setup

Enables low-level S.M.A.R.T. controller queries for external Thunderbolt and USB NVMe drives:

  1. Open macOS System Settings.
  2. Navigate to Privacy & Security ➔ Full Disk Access.
  3. Enable the toggle switch for StatsCalm.
  4. Relaunch StatsCalm to begin immediate health monitoring.

Thermal & Overheating Alerts

Configure custom temperature thresholds to prevent NVMe thermal throttling:

  1. In StatsCalm, open Settings ➔ Thermal & Temperature Alerts.
  2. Ensure Notifications permission is approved.
  3. Select your warning threshold (e.g., 60 °C recommended).

Restore App Store Purchase

StatsCalm is a lifetime purchase linked to your Apple ID:

  1. Ensure you are signed in with the Apple Account used during purchase.
  2. Open StatsCalm or the Mac App Store.
  3. Click Restore Purchases in App Settings if prompted.

Why does an external SSD show "S.M.A.R.T. Unavailable"?

Certain budget USB-to-SATA enclosures use bridge chips (such as generic ASMedia or JMicron USB bridges) that block raw SCSI/ATA passthrough commands. High-quality Thunderbolt 3/4 enclosures (such as Intel JHL7440 / Goshen Ridge / ASM2464PD) fully support NVMe S.M.A.R.T. passthrough.

How does the Privacy Eye toggle work?

In the Network & Wi-Fi section, clicking the eye button (eye.slash / eye.fill) masks your local IPv4, IPv6, router gateway, and hardware MAC addresses so you can safely record your screen or stream.
